Honey, Honey, Honey - It’s a Fit Mans World!

Monday, March 31st, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Richard_Wise] Richard Wise Honey has been called the food of the gods; because its nutritional and healing properties have been known for thousands of years. It seems amazing that so many people prefer to use granulated sugar, and artificial sweeteners, when there is such a beneficial alternative as natural honey. The ancient world revered honey as the food of the gods. Its uses in medicine and surgery, go back through the ages, and have led to seemingly miraculous cures. In fact honey has been thought of by some as the cure for all ills! It has been used, externally and internally, for a range of conditions and illnesses. Some people may question why it is not used more extensively in modern medicine, which might have something to do with its sticky nature. Western medicine, in particular, has come to rely on the instant fix. It is much easier to pop a pill than to apply, or partake of a substance, thought to be a bit messy! Trends may change but the curative properties of honey do not. Therefore, it would seem sensible to give it a try or conversely, almost foolish not to! Honey is a natural antiseptic and hydroscopic substance, which has been used for ages past, as an ingredient of liniments and ointments. Try it on minor conditions such as scratches and bruises. Then you may decide to use it for some infection, even in tandem with something more radical that you may have received from Chemist or Doctor. Honey is a natural product so there should never be unpleasant side effects. Honey is perhaps even better known in alleviating internal ailments, such as coughs, colds, sore throats and related conditions. There are undoubtedly more serious afflictions that it can assist with, but remember that honey is also a delicious natural food. If you include it in your diet, your immune system will benefit and you will be more able to resist diseases. Prevention is always better than cure. A natural health lifestyle can do much to keep you well. It would be an ill informed natural health practitioner, who was unaware of the curative and nutritional properties of natural honey. Bees, all over the world have worked so hard to help us. The least we can do to repay them is to help ourselves. Richard Wise writes articles about natural health, aromatherapy, herbal remedies, antioxidants, allergies and vegetarianism. Immigrate with the Right Documents

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

By Yean Shin Yong What might consume the most amount of time apart from waiting for approval from the authorities is getting the right documentation. Of course although there are ways to hasten the process, let me uncover the methods to making sure you get the right documents so that you can ensure the authorities will consider your application. For those of you who already are familiar with the immigration process to Canada, you know that the score you need is only 67 and not 75. The following are the documents they might require from you and family members applying together with you: 1) Birth Certificate - For all applicants in your family you are applying with 2) Language Proficiency - Certificates or transcripts showing you know English or French 3) Education - College certificates or transcripts of educational accomplishment 4) Employment and Work Experience - Testimonials or other documents showing proof of past employment 5) Family Relations in Canada - Letters or other documents like marriage certifications if you have relatives already residing in Canada. 6) Employment Letter - If you already have a job in Canada. The Immigration of Canada may be very strict on the requirements of the above documents and you might want to consider seeking professional advice from an immigration consultant on the requirements before submitting these documents together with your application. Filling up the application require you to read through the directions meticulously because an incomplete or erroneous form may result in your application being delayed or worse, rejected. This will then result in the unnecessary process of starting all over again and extra cash for reapplication. In addition to all that above, you must also submit the following additional documents to add some meat to your application. 1) Pictures - Of you and your family who following you to Canada 2) Proof of finances - Documents from bank or employer in Canada (if any). Your proof of finances is especially important and will be a major factor to the success of your application. Ask a reliable and experienced immigration consultant for your chances before you submit, unless you want to lose your high application fees. Talk to a Psychiatrist About Your Depression

Monday, March 24th, 2008

By Justin Meyer Perhaps one of the most intimidating experiences is when it comes time to talk to a psychiatrist about your symptoms. Psychiatrists are, by their nature, looking for pharmacological cures to your problems. Things that may seem significant to you will be ignored by the doctor. It does not mean that he or she is trying to minimalize your symptoms, but that they are looking for more general trends. What’s important is to remember that your therapist and your psychiatrist serve different purposes. A therapist is the one who wants to talk about your day to day issues, who wants to check on your mood from day to day. This is where the smaller issues will be discussed. A psychiatrist is going to want to talk about the overall picture. It is important to make sure that the psychiatrist gets the overall picture. It’s possible that your situation that day might color your perception of your symptoms. One method is to discuss with your therapist everything that your psychiatrist should be told. Another, related idea is to make a list of symptoms. It would allow you to keep yourself on track, to make sure that what you need to convey is told. In order for the psychiatrist to best treat you, he or she needs to see exactly what is going on, with as unbiased a view as possible. Your psychiatrist is another person that you need to trust. Although they might seem cold at times, or disinterested, trust that they are trying to help you. If you don’t trust your doctors, you won’t be able to get better. Is The Answer “Be Like Nike”

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

By Tom Dougherty In the media crazy world in which we live, when Nike presents a new tag line, or Mr. Potato Head rises from pop culture purgatory to represent a modern version of the Jolly Green Giant, advertising becomes big news. In the dog-eat-dog world of fast food, the business community clamors to snatch small gems of marketing wisdom. How does this help us steal share? Does it work? Has the game changed? Years ago, brand was loosely defined as a promise to the consumer of a perceived value. Corporations have spent billions of dollars building brands, books have been written, and articles have been published. Marketing experts told us that brand was the most important discipline in todays advertising arena. Yet customers have spent years telling us that brand was not working. Traditional Branding If traditional branding worked in the manner in which it was designed, you would expect that there would be a sizable discrepancy in price between generic and branded products. You would also expect to see robust margins in branded products and a distinct consumer preference for the promise of value that the brand delivers. However, what we see is great similarity in products, and hardly a national brand exists that is not competing in the arena of price. Consider the history of the brand story. It started as a means of product identity and differentiation. It did not take a rocket scientist to understand the basics. If the consumer had a good experience with a product or service, then he/she might look for that same brand the next time he/she needed it. Brand managers understood the need for consistency of look and feel. It made life easier and made sense of choice. But the marketplace was not nearly so crowded in those days. When David Ogilvy helped make Hathaway a respected brand, it competed with a small group of other national brands, and an even smaller group of generic no-name shirt manufacturers. Agencies at the time discovered that if you created a brand image for products, sales increased. The Crowded Market Enter the creative revolution of the 60s a time when advertising for inanimate objects started with an infusion of human attributes. If the creative team thought of the product in human terms (modern, forward thinking, etc.), the advertising seemed more effective. Soon the market became more crowded as more messages and choices vied for the consumers mindset. Unique Selling Proposition (USP) was incorporated into the mix. Couple human attributes with the latest in product benefit and branding, as we now know it, was launched. Brand worked but not because of the human attributes called desired brand image. The advertising was more effective simply because it was more memorable. Imbue an advertisement with human traits, and consumers are more apt to remember it. It worked because we were able to tell a better story. Is USP the Answer? But is USP a cornerstone for stealing share? I think not. It is the antithesis of brand objectives. Purchases are not intellectual activities. They ARE emotional ones. Few consumers walk the market aisles armed with the latest copy of Consumer Reports. No one picks the products or services they consume as a result of a T chart, neatly plotted with the pros and cons of purchasing. And this brings me back to the beginning. This is why Nike is still news. Is the Nike athletic shoe better than its branded competitors? Is it worth four times the cost of its generic copycat? Does it make you run faster, jump higher, and land a multi-million dollar place on a NBA roster? I think we can all say that it is none of the above. Consumers pay a market multiple of FOUR to have the logo on their shoes. Nike is confident that they will do the same for anything else they decide to brand. If you want to steal share, your brand must recognize that every purchase a consumer makes, no matter how small, holds within its nucleus the DNA of self-description. In this complicated and crowded world, where social and cultural identifications have been dashed on the rocks, real brandface is recognizable and indisputable. Show me myself, not as I am but as I wish to be and I will buy it every time. In fact, I will feel incomplete without it once I know it exists. In the face of a crowded marketplace, it pushes the competition under. REAL brand BRANDS the customer, not the product. It actively tells the customer who they are when they use it. Does it work? Ask Nike. Tom DoughertyCEO, Senior Strategist at Stealing Share, Inc. Tom began his strategic marketing and branding career in Saudi Arabia working for the internationally acclaimed Saatchi & Saatchi. His brand manager at the time referred to Tom as a marketing genius, and Tom demonstrated his talents to clients such as Ariel detergent, Pampers and many other brands throughout the Middle East and Northern Africa. After his time overseas, Tom returned to the US where he worked for brandagencies in New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC. He continued to prove himself as a unique and strategic brand builder for global companies. Tom has led efforts for brands such as Procter & Gamble, Kimberly Clark, Fairmont Hotels, Coldwell Banker, Homewood Suites (of Hilton), Tetley Tea, Lexus, Sovereign Bank, and McCormick to name a few. Requiem for the Paper Trail

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

By Lynn Moriarty Parman The Paper Trail: birth certificates, baptism and confirmation records, report cards, school files, club reports, diplomas, marriage certificates, divorce records, telephone books, city directories, military records, membership lists, court records, voting registration, tickets and passes, ships logs, books, land deeds, historical records, hospital and doctor files, publisher’s subscriber lists, checkbooks, credit cards, census reports, post office addresses and credit bureaus. We have left our finger prints and signatures (our bread crumb trail) as we trek through life from file to file. Even a death certificate is not the end of the trail! An obituary records our final journey. Then, maybe a last will is read, which is an attempt to control who gets what, after we are gone. We are stuck in files scattered all over the country. You’d have to live in a pretty remote place to escape the paper trail. And even then, there most likely would be a record somewhere. The paper trail is fast being downloaded into computers, to travel electronically over distant phone wires. This is no private trail in the woods; we are public, a name copied into cyberspace that will not be shredded. What is the paper trail’s destiny? We may be a hard copy stuck in a file, sometimes really lost to the person who has a legitimate need of the information. You have to become a modern-day Sherlock to find and retrieve information left on the paper trail. And court houses usually want paid for divulging statistics that are a matter of public record. We have become a commodity on paper. Often we must become a member of some organization for a fee in order to have access to information. Currently some states will not allow courthouse personnel to search records for the public. In those cases, our ancestors rest in peace in the hands of the Genealogical Societies who are becoming their legal guardians. Lynn Moriarty Parman is an author having recently published her first book, Mushroom Marathon, Running Toward the Prize of Serenity in 2004. She has written other articles for E-zine, and been published in Stars and Stripes in 2003. Are You Losing Body Fat or Water?

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

By Meri Raffetto I tried that diet and lost 8 pounds in the first week! Ive gained three pounds in one day! It must have been the cookie I ateor maybe the mashed potatoes! These are comments I hear so often that I decided it would be a good topic for an article to help people have a better understanding of the fluctuating numbers on their scale. It is important to understand, when we step on a scale, it is measuring every part of our physical being at that moment in time, which means it measures our fat, muscles, organs, tissue and water weight. Water weight can affect your total weight anywhere from 1-10 pounds and sometimes even more. It is important to understand what kinds of dietary factors can make these fluid shifts happen. To start, many of the high protein, low carbohydrate diets such as Atkins, or the beginning of South Beach can cause a dramatic shift in your water weight. This is because as you significantly cut back carbohydrate intake your body starts breaking down the stored carbohydrates (glycogen) to use as energy, and this breakdown causes the body to excrete large amounts of water. Once the body begins to use stored fat for energy, weight loss slows. This is why most people lose a significant amount ofweight right away on a low carb, high protein diet. Extreme low carb, high protein diets can often lead the body to a state of dehydration because of the significant fluid loss. What is misleading is when a person following a low carb plan eats a carbohydrate-rich food they can easily gain 1-3 pounds. However, this weight gain is just your body replenishing the fluid it lost and is not gained fat. I have had numerous clients struggle with this and they end up yo-yoing back in forth with fluid weight thinking that it must be the half cup of rice they had the night before that caused them to gain that 2 pounds when in fact eating the rice just allowed them to regain some of the fluid they had lost from following a strict low carb plan. The fact is carbohydrates do not affect your weight quite that simply. Excess refined carbohydrates can strongly stimulate insulin production, which promotes fat deposition and increases appetite. This kind of weight gain will happen gradually, not dramatically overnight. Sodium is another dietary component that can lead to fluid gain. Sodium can cause the body to retain fluid, which can lead to these frustrating daily weight fluctuations. Some people are more sensitive to sodium than others. Watch your diet and see if your weight gain corresponds with a high sodium meal the day before. For example, eating out in restaurants can often increase your sodium intake significantly. The best way to tell if you are retaining fluid is to pay attention to your body. If you get indentations on your ankles and lower legs from your socks then you are retaining fluid. If you wear rings and they become tight and leave an imprint in your fingers when you take them off then you also likely retaining fluid. Any kind of puffiness in your skin is a good indication of water weight. The bottom line is that it takes 3500 calories to gain or lose 1 pound of body fat. This equates to an extra 500 calories a day over 7 days to gain a pound. This means if you gained 3 pounds in one day you can chalk it up to fluid weight otherwise you would have had to consume10,500 extra calories that day which is not likely! True weight gain happens gradually and likewise we lose it gradually. Check your weight weekly instead of daily and look for overall trends. If you are seeing dramatic daily changes in your weight, it is likely the ever-changing shifts of our bodies water weight. Mortgage Marketing Made Easy

Monday, March 17th, 2008

By Matthew J Allen Mortgage marketing is just like any other type of marketing. And it requires that you follow some very basic rules of marketing. If you follow these rules your marketing will pay off big time and you will see a very handsome return on your investment. First you need to find a niche market. And in the mortgage world there are hundreds if not thousands of niches that you can target. There are hundreds of loan programs that cater to specific needs of the consumer. Each one of these programs can be a niche for you. You could also go after certain markets such as purchase, debt consolidation, construction, foreclosure bail outs, Chapter 13 bankruptcy buy outs and on and on. You could also target specific occupations. All that matter is that you choose a niche market. Second you need to craft a perfect mortgage marketing message to the niche that you have chosen. That message needs to correlate with what is going through that markets mind. What is it that they need or want? What kinds of problems are they having that you have the solution too? What are their goals in life? What keeps them up at night? If you have done enough loans you already know the answer to those questions because those people have already told you. Third you need a way to find these people. Because if you cant find them easily, youll get frustrated in no time flat. You will want to know if you can buy lists of these people in your niche. Do they have certain characteristics that are easy to find such as certain credit scores, income, location, careers, etc.. Do they work with other professionals where that professional could then refer those people to you? Do they read certain publications or listen to certain radio stations? Do they belong to any kind of trade organization? Finally you need a way to get your mortgage marketing message in from of them. This can be accomplished through a variety of ways. You could use direct mail, classified ads, postcards, TV or radio commercials, inserts, display ads, internet, recorded message blasts. The best advice is to test each one of those methods. Once one starts working start testing the other methods while continuing to use the one that is working. To have mortgage marketing that is easy and works. All you need to do is find a niche. Create a marketing message to that niche. Make sure you can find these people in this niche. And then start using all the different media sources you have available to get your message in from of that niche. Things were going fine till now but you find the only problem in your marriage is that of money. You want your marriage to be a bit extravagant but you dont have sufficient funds. You dont need to worry as a secured personal loan can resolve your purpose. A secured personal loan is a loan that is taken against collateral i.e. usually your house. The interest rates charged on such loans are very low. Also, the monthly installments are small and the repayment period is long or may be flexible according to your suitability. You can raise a large amount of fund through a secured loan because the lenders are at minimum risk when offering you such a loan. Lower Ab Workout: 2 Killer Exercises

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

By Tom Gifford Have you found it difficult to get a great lower ab workout? If so, then you are not the only one. For a lot of people, the lower abs seem to be the toughest area in the core to thoroughly get a great workout with. Before we get into some great exercises that will help you to hit the lower abs, it is very important that we talk about “spot reduction” and how this myth may have you on the wrong track. Spot reduction refers to the idea that you tone and lose fat over a specific muscle group if you do more enough exercises. For example, someone who wants to lose weight might think they need to do hundreds of crunches per day in order to do so. I assure you that this is not the case. If you want to lose fat in general, you are going to lose it with the right combination of diet, strength training, and interval training - a type of cardio that is specific for burning fat. So doing a great ab workout feels great and will help to make your core stronger, but it will not make you lose fat around the midsection all by itself. Even so, it does feel awesome to work the abs. This is why I want you to try these two exercises below that are specific for working the lower abs. 1. Reverse crunches 1. Lie on your back with your knees in the air at a 90 degree angle. 2. Put your hands behind your head and tense your abs. 3. Keeping the same 90 degree bend in your knees, lower your feet so they touch the ground. Then, go the other direction and bring your knee up towards your chest. Repeat this 10-15 times. With this exercise, you want to go slow throughout the whole range of motion. If you go too fast, you will not keep the same amount of tension on your lower abs. Be sure to exhale as you bring your knees close to your chest. 2. Bicycle kicks 1. Lie on your back with your knees in the air at a 90 degree angle. 2. Put your hands behind your head and tense your abs. 3. Keeping your abs tense, bring one knee in towards your chest while simultaneously extending the other leg in the opposite direction. Repeat alternating your legs this way for the duration of the exercise. To really feel this one, try doing 10 reps fast, 10 reps slow, 10 reps fast, and 10 more reps slow. Depending on your level of fitness, you may need to do more or less reps to adequately work your abs. So in conclusion, you have learned that in order to lose body fat you need to have the right combination of diet, cardio, and strength training. You also learned two exercises that will help you to have a great lower ab workout. Remember the key to success is to keep learning and stay persistent! =) Want to Reprint this Article?
